Online Security Checkpoint
Washington Trust Bank is implementing an additional security feature known as Online Security Checkpoint to verify your identity when you access OnLine Banking services and further protect your information and transactions. In addition to your standard login procedure, you will be asked to answer a few questions and register your computer.

Set-up Your Security Checkpoint (Beginning February 21, 2007)

  1. Log in to OnLine Banking using your existing User ID and Password.
  2. Select your three challenge questions. (If you have already selected questions using "Forgotten Password", you can skip this step.)
  3. Register your computer by following the instructions on your screen.

128-bit browsers: strong encryption for your security
Browsers allow you to access and use the Internet. For most uses, a browser with standard encryption is adequate, but for OnLine Banking we require a 128-bit browser.

128-bit encryption is a strong security technology, among the strongest currently available for non-military applications. The recommended browsers for use with OnLine Banking are generally the most recent version and one prior of the following browser types: Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, and Firefox. Support for new browsers and browser versions will generally be accomplished as they become publicly adopted.

Firewalls and how they protect you.
Our computers are protected by a firewall, a security tool which denies access to unauthorized users. Only someone using the appropriate User ID, password, and communications protocols may penetrate a firewall.

Unique User ID and Password protect you online
Before we can let you begin a session, we need to know that you are who you say you are. So every OnLine Banking session begins when you enter your unique User ID and Password. This information is encrypted before being sent over the Internet.

We recommend that you change your password often and, in fact, you will be prompted to do so every ninety days. You can easily change your password when you are in an OnLine Banking session by clicking on User Options. Remember to change your password often and don't let anyone else know what it is.

We are committed to the security of the information you store and transmit while using eBusiness Express. We use state-of-the-art technology to help ensure that your online sessions are secure.
