Leadership Development

Continuing in our tradition as a visionary leader in banking since 1902, Washington Trust Bank has developed the Leadership Development program, which invests in manager-nominated individuals who demonstrate an aptitude and work ethic to become the bank leaders of tomorrow. Leaders learn the application of principles in areas such as business planning, accountability, delegation, running a business, goal setting and developing and coaching others.

Leading from the Line

This eight module course is a leadership boot camp for nominated high potential employees. The course will take employees from good to great, emphasizing the application of principles in areas such as communication, persuasion, decision making, applying your personal assessment results to leadership and collaboration. It blends live instruction with real-life management challenges, developing skills and gain experience to prepare participants for a leadership role at the Bank.

Women in Leadership

Women in Leadership is a nine month professional development series for rising stars and top talent. It blends online content with group facilitation, designed to bring insights to actions. Washington Trust Bank curates the content that professional women and Washington Trust Bank care about. This includes world renown speakers, best-selling authors, and successful leaders leveraging the latest technology. In addition, we help bring the learning further through group facilitation, a Speaker Series of subject matter experts and cross functional networking opportunities. The program also includes accountability groups to promote and enhance the learning experience.

Relationship Manager Development (RMD) Program

Washington Trust Bank is developing a best of class, in-house customized training program for future Commercial and WMAS Relationship Managers – starting from the ground up. The robust program will admit a cohort of applicants each year, based on succession and retirement-planning forecasts in the Commercial and Wealth Management divisions. Applicants accepted into the program will start as Relationship Manager Trainees and at the end of the program, will be promoted to Associate Relationship Manager roles.

Retail Training

Aimed at promoting excellence in our Financial Concierges, this program covers the technical aspects of the job, as well as the skills of effectively dealing with our most important goal, outstanding customer service.
