Leadership Development

The Leadership Development program invests in manager-nominated individuals who demonstrate an aptitude and work ethic to become our future bank leaders. Participants learn the application of principles in areas such as business planning, accountability, delegation, running a business, goal setting and developing and coaching others.

Leading from the Line

This is a leadership boot camp for nominated, high-potential employees. The course emphasizes the application of principles in areas such as communication, persuasion, decision making, applying your personal assessment results to leadership and collaboration. It blends live instruction with real-life management challenges, developing skills and gaining experience to prepare participants for a leadership role at the Bank.

Women in Leadership

Women in Leadership is a professional development series that blends online content with group facilitation. Washington Trust Bank curates the content which includes world renown speakers, best-selling authors, and successful leaders. The course also includes group activities, a speaker series of subject matter experts, cross-functional networking opportunities, and accountability groups to promote and enhance the learning experience.

Relationship Manager Development (RMD) Program

Washington Trust Bank is developing a training program for future Commercial and Relationship Managers – starting from the ground up. The robust program admits a cohort of applicants each year, based on succession and retirement-planning forecasts in our Commercial Banking and Wealth Management divisions. Applicants accepted into the program will start as Relationship Manager Trainees and at the end of the program they can earn a position as an Associate Relationship Manager.

Retail Training

Aimed at promoting excellence in our Financial Concierges, this program covers the technical aspects of the job, as well as the skills of effectively dealing with our most important goal, outstanding customer service.
