Checking account Q&A.
What are the benefits of having a checking account?
A checking account gives you easy access to your money for everyday spending, bill payments, and direct deposits. It also helps you track your finances in real time with tools like digital banking and account notifications.
What factors should I look for when choosing a checking account?
When choosing a checking account, think about what account features are important to you and look for an account that gives you those features and benefits with the lowest account fees or options for waving or reducing fees. It’s also a good idea to understand overdraft policies and the availability of customer service.
Where can I find my checking account number and routing number?
Once your account is open, you can log into WTB Online to view your account number and routing number from the “Settings” menu after clicking on your account from the options listed. The routing number is also listed at the bottom of our website.
How can I set up direct deposit?
You can set up direct deposit through your employer. You’ll need to have your checking account and bank routing number on-hand.
What do I do if my debit card is lost or stolen?
Call our Priority Service center at 800.788.4578. You can also message the team for support through the WTB Online app.

- Overdraft courtesy refund: We may charge a fee of $15 for each item paid causing an overdraft. A fee may be imposed for overdrafts created by check, in-person withdrawal, ATM withdrawal, or other electronic means. Overdrafts are due immediately. We may not pay overdrafts at our discretion. After the end of each calendar quarter a $15 Paid Overdraft/Returned Item Fee refund will be credited back to the account if an overdraft occurrence was charged to the account during that quarter.
- Enroll in and maintain an active Washington Trust Bank online account and select eStatements.
- Minimum ledger balance: The lowest end of day balance in an account during a statement cycle. A certain minimum daily balance is often required with interest-bearing accounts to avoid a monthly maintenance fee.
- Prior month's minimum ledger balance: The balance based on the prior month's lowest daily balances of the account(s) during the 30-day statement period.
- You will earn Rewards based on your qualifying net purchases (purchases minus returns and/or other related credits) with no earnings cap. You will earn Rewards as long as your account is in good standing (that is, not closed, cancelled, blocked, delinquent, suspended or otherwise inactive and not available for use). You do not earn Rewards on fees, finance charges, or fraudulent or unauthorized charges. Credits (returns) to your account will reduce the Rewards available in your rewards account.
