Understanding your recreational loan.

Whether you're buying a boat, RV or toy, your monthly payment depends on several factors, including the purchase price, down payment, interest rate, and loan term. Understanding each can help you chose financing that fits your budget.

Down payment.
The amount you provide toward the purchase lowers the amount you need to borrow. A larger down payment may also lower your monthly payment.

Loan amount.
Also called principal, your loan amount is generally the purchase price minus your down payment and any trade-in value applied to the purchase.

Interest.
This is the cost of borrowing money and is included in your monthly payment.

Loan term.
Your loan term is the amount of time you have to repay the loan. A longer term may result in a lower monthly payment, but can affect the total amount you pay over time.
